TENZING

an Apple Original Film

Join us for a special screening of TENZING in the building where the 1953 expedition was planned and funded – and hear the half of the story the photograph never told.

Royal Geographical Society,
1 Kensington Gore, London SW7 2AR

Entry is FREE, but reservation is required
Doors open at 6.30 pm, event starts at 7.15 pm

Seats are limited, and we expect them to go quickly. Tickets are free, but reserving a seat means it’s no longer available to someone else, so please only book if you intend to come – and if your plans change, please release your reservation so that someone else has the opportunity to join us.

The Himalayan Trust UK, in collaboration with Apple TV, are deligthed to invite you to a special screening of TENZING, an Apple Original Film.

Based on true events and directed by Jennifer Peedom, TENZING chronicles the life of Tenzing Norgay. You will know about the expedition team led by Col John Hunt, the successful ascent alongside Edmund Hillary, and the photograph taken on the summit.

Far fewer people know what came before it – the years of carrying for other men’s ambitions, the attempts that failed, and what sustained a lifelong dream through all of them.

The film features an extraordinary cast, including Genden Phuntsok as Tenzing, Tom Hiddleston as Edmund Hillary, Willem Dafoe as Col John Hunt, Caitríona Balfe as Jill Henderson, and Thinley Lhamo as Dawa.

Join us for the evening to hear:
  • Norbu Tenzing – eldest son of Tenzing Norgay
  • Rebecca Stephens – Trustee of Himalayan Trust UK and the first British woman to climb Everest
  • Further guests and contributions from cast and crew

We will also show a short film about the Trust’s work in Nepal – the schools, teachers and health services that grew from that first ascent, and the part of the story you have helped to write. TENZING will be available to stream, but the guests, the setting and the room itself make this evening something else entirely.

Come for the climb. Stay for Tenzing’s story behind it.
